In
Grades 1-8, we have song videos to accompany our music books. These
videos are on MySeton at myseton.setonhome.org. Here
are instructions for accessing the videos:
1) On MySeton, click on the Courses tab. Scroll down to Music, but do not click on it.
2) Instead, click on the yellow notepad icon in the Resources column, to the right.
3) This will take you to the MySeton Course Resources. To access the song videos, click on "Music _ Video Library" (for Grade 1, click on "Catholic Songs for Children").
Do you have any other recommendations for teaching or enriching our students' Music courses?
Music is a parent-graded subject, so there are no tests or assignments to submit, and the overall grade
is based on participation. We allow families to be flexible in how
they choose to teach music. Some
families like to use the Seton music books and song videos posted on MySeton.
Others choose to substitute different forms of music/musical instruction
in place of the Seton music book. For example, if a student sings or
is involved in music lessons, that could be counted as a substitute.
Other substitute options include students' participation in singing
hymns at church, or favorite/popular songs as a family.
Alternatively, some families do a once-a-month music history project,
where they read and research about a famous composer, and
listen to a famous song by that composer.
Another option is to play the song videos from MySeton, or other
music/favorite songs/CDs while your student is doing school work. This
would count as music appreciation.
