Students can take online (in-browser) tests on MySeton. The paper versions of these tests should be in the back of the physical course manual. All required, Seton- graded assignments are submitted on the older MySeton website (
http://myseton.setonhome.org/). You do not submit required, Seton-graded assignments on SetonOnline except in a few courses like Rosetta Stone courses. Always closely read your lesson plans/course manual; it will explain where and how to take or upload a Seton-graded assignment..
Conversely, quizzes are optional, home-graded assessments; you do not submit quizzes to Seton. Like other home-graded items, it is up to the parent/teacher's discretion whether to report quiz grades or if the course even has a quiz-related item (list of home-graded assignments/assessments are listed in yellow on MySeton, see first screenshot below).
To submit a Seton-graded test (no in-browser option), students type their responses to each of the test's questions. Make sure each response is numbered and accurately corresponds with each question. Students do not need to write out each question prior to the response. After all the needed responses are written and proofread, students upload a PDF of the document by clicking the hand-touching-the-key icon seen below. After successfully uploading it, students should see a red X as seen below. The assignment is now in the grading queue and will be graded by one of the graders. This red X also allows the student to delete the upload in case the wrong file was uploaded or if the student wants to modify his/her responses prior to grading. Also, clicking the icon of the magnifying glass allows you to view what has been uploaded. It is recommended you view what was uploaded to ensure the formatting did not shift during the upload process.
In addition, some high school tests can be taken online in your browser on MySeton. Students may take tests online if they have the icon of the hand writing on a notepad (see screenshot below). If you hover your cursor over this icon, it should say "take online test '[title of test].'" Once a student enters the test, they can take as long as they need to complete the test. The test function will also save their responses so they can come back to it later.
However, it is strongly recommended to copy and paste responses into a separate, saved document if the student chooses to come back to the test later. While the online test function regularly saves responses, it is always a good idea to back up any work. This also applies to any other graded work. Having multiple backups ensures a student's hard work is not lost.
Once you are logged into SetonOnline, you will see all the courses that have a SetonOnline component to them. Enter whichever course you want to take a quiz in and use the navigation taskbar on the left to proceed to the specific week and day that the quiz is given. Note: the student must be logged into their student account in order to take the quiz. There will be no "Start Quiz" button if logged into the parent/teacher account.
