Do you include Honorifics, Degrees, Religious Titles Author's Name for Bibliography or Footnotes?
Chicago formatting style makes it clear that academic titles before a name or degrees after a name are to be dispensed with (CMS 16.40) and it is assumed that for religious affiliations (OSB, OP) after a name, it's the same. However, on religious titles before a name, it seems open-ended. The bibliography part says to follow the indexing rules, and the rules there say a religious title should generally be dispensed with unless "necessary for identification" or, in the case of saints, "unless another name is equally well or better known" (16.39 and 16.42), and it gives titles for priests and saints with and without the initial title.
In short, giving initial religious titles for the author (St. , Fr. , Br. , or Sr.) of a source is okay, but remove any religious order abbreviations (e.g. OP or OSB) and academic/professional credentials (e.g. Ph.D.; MD; MBA) or professional titles like 'Dr.'.
