What is American Literature? How is it different from other English courses?

American Literature is a survey course that naturally focuses on American Literature. However, the American Lit course is simpler considering the only required, Seton-graded assignments are 4 Quarter Tests (which are open-book). There are no separate texts nor are there any book analysis assignments; students read solely from our American Literature textbook. The honors version of American Literature, however, does contain the additional book analysis assignments. The additional book analysis assignments are the only difference between the honors and non-honors versions.

Note: Neither the Honors or non-honors American Literature course is required for any of our high school diplomas, and it can only be taken by 11th or 12th-grade students
